  • Mysterious airstrip just inside the blue line?

Any information of what appears to be an airstrip located near Maple Lake just of of Wheelertown/Enos Road? The coordinates on google maps are 43.40785255074622, -75.08460960511151.

The clearing appears to be approximately 2,000' x. 100' but I can't find it on any sectional maps. Google Earth suggests that it was cut sometime between 1995 and 2002 based on the satellite imagery.

So it is a private airfield or a timber landing?

It's private land, not sure what it much matters?

Doubt it's for logging, even though I clearly see a number of timber plots nearby - none seem to connect to that.

        Looks similar to this one

Your mystery opening looks similar to this one at 44.32114, -74.77379. This opening is around 1400 feet long. Nearest obvious camps are 2 miles away.

Definitely an air strip, never saw a logging landing that needed to be 2000’ long. The landowners address is In Alaska, so good possibility he owns a airplane ?
And as Montcalm stated, it’s private land .

Food plot? It's pretty long, but a few blinds spread out over its length would have it covered pretty well. Also, 100' wide seems pretty narrow for an airstrip in the woods

              Southern Adirondack Building Site
This beautiful wooded property features a perfect site for building a rural home or camp with APA approvals already in place. Located on a year-round, plowed gravel road with access to power, the land is heavily wooded with cherry, hemlock and pine forest and wild blueberries scattered throughout, giving the woodlands a classic Adirondack look and feel. An old landing strip on the property provides an open crossing area for local deer and bear and would make a nice location for food plots. Additional trails lead throughout the woods for hiking and hunting. The land borders Muskrat Brook - a popular spot for fishermen - and is near several hiking and snowmobile trails. Located just 30 miles from Old Forge and the Fulton Chain of lakes and 50 minutes from the NYS Thruway, this property is easily accessible from Syracuse and points west, as well as Utica and Rome.

Looks familiar That might be the airstrip I landed with Daniel Christmas & customers.

Only thing is, you have to buzz the runway first at a low (100 ft) altitude to scare away critters before landing.
