(Albany, NY - AP) — New Yorkers might be getting more room to fish, hike and ride snowmobiles.
The state Canal Corporation has agreed to transfer 719 acres in the southwestern Adirondacks to the state Department of Environmental Conservation for public use as forest preserve.
The two parcels in the Herkimer County town of Ohio contain two reservoirs and have trout fishing, lean-tos, foot trails and a snowmobile trail system.
The plan needs approval from the Adirondack Park Agency.
Ohio is 75 miles northwest of Albany.
