    Pronunciation please?

Can anyone help me with the pronunciation of Nehasane (also seen as Ne-ha-sa-ne)? (ie: (the former) Nehasane Park, Nehasane Lake, etc)

    Gary?

I've done Google-d it to death and still can't find an answer.

Ne-Ha-Sa-Ne was the name of the great camp built by the railroad baron Dr, William Seward Webb and his wife Lila Osgood Vanderbilt Webb. Per Barbara McMartin's book Discover the Northwestern Adirondacks the name is supposedly an Indian term meaning "beaver crossing river on log", but that is hard to substantiate. Nehasane Lake and Lake Lila (originally Smith's Lake named for the hermit David Smith) are on the Beaver River. Many believe the Ne-Ha-Sa-Ne name may be just a poetic creation by the Webbs. It is generally pronounced just as the hyphenated name implies, basically nee hah sah nee.

      Hi Trish!
Sorry... I don't know the pronunciation either. I think Mark nailed it.
If I find something new out, I'll post it.
