    parking/camping

Hi, A group of us are planning a weekend trip to the dacks for the May 2nd weekend. We're all mostly students, and will likely be leaving toronto after the work day on the friday, hoping to hike saturday and drive back saturday night.

We probably won't get in until quite late on the friday night, is there any place where we can park cars and set up a tent for the night?

    thanks

Yes, there are thousands of places.

(you need to be a little more specific as to location)

we're looking at either Whiteface/Esther or Wright and Algonquin, depending on trail conditions at the time

If you decide to hike up Algonquin and Wright then your safest bet is to get a pre-paid confirmed reservation at the ADK Loj campsite.

The south meadows road campsite is also a possibility but although it is free, it could be crowded and the south meadow road may not be passable when you arrive.

The Loj campsites are around $16 or $18 for the first two people and then an additional charge for each additional person.

If you are not staying Saturday night, you have to remeber to move your car from the campground parking lot to the trailhead parking lot unless you have gotten permission from the Loj ahead of time to leave it in the campground parking lot while hiking on Saturday.

Go onto http://www.reserveamerica.com and check out all the campsites and make sure you make a reservation prior to your departure. If you wait and try to go to the campgroud to get a site, you may find the park is full.
