On the Belgium beer front, many different styles are out there and are some of the best in the world. The beers range from the witbier that I believe wildbrokies was mentioning to doubles, triples, quads all have higher alcohol %. Also some of the styles would include Lambic brews which is usually a fruit blended brew to some of the sour Flanders brews. If you like to try different brew you should give some of these a try as they can be excellent.

Sorry to go off on the brews, but it is a second hobby to hiking!

RDL is correct. Lake Placid Craft Brewing and Matts have joined forces BUT I am about 99.9% sure that this does not include the BrewPub in Lake Placid itself. From what I have been told Matts will be using the facility in Plattsburg to do some experimental brews under both the Lake Placid and Saranac names. I would imagine that this will add to the selections that they have in the Saranac High Peak series, the current Imperial Stout is fantastic for the price. Also I hope that their might be the possibility of bottling the Dr. Foggs Stout under the Lake Placid brand name in the future. IMO that is the best offering that the Brew Pub has, just not sure what property/recipes where transfered with the sale.

A search on Google yielded the following article: "Lake Placid Craft Brewing Co. Joins Forces with Matt Brewing Co."

FYI... The beer area manager at Wegmans in Cicero NY ( on Rt 11- Just north of the City of Syracuse) will order just about any kind of beer you want. I suggested he order a Vermont Beer my husband loves- he ordered me two cases and a couple to put on the shelves. I see it on the shelves all the time now. I suggested another brand a few weeks ago- he ordered them for us and added a few to his shelves.
You gotta LOVE Wegmans- they go all the way for their customers. They have a great craft beer selection too.
No, I don't work there. I just like their customer service skills.

My brothers wife likes the Belgian Beers...I think they`re called "White Ales" or something similar..they have a peculiar cloudy looking body when held up to a light.. I`ve tried them and don`t really like them..

The Season's best is pretty good. I had it last year. Another real good seasonal christmas beer is Sierra Nevada's Celebration Ale.

For what its worth...I just found Lake Placid Ubu Ale and the 46er at "Savemore Beverage " in Clifton Park

Also, was looking at the Saranac Beer selections and an older gentleman told me I should try the "Saranac Seasons Best"... it is only made specifically for the Holiday season...can`t wait to try it...will let you know what it taste like..

I assumed premier would have it too and they did not. Conumers also does not have it but last time i was in the guy told me he thought they would be carrying it soon because Lake Placid Brewing was bought out by Saranac. I hadn't heard this so I'm not sure if its true or not.

It's hard to imagine that is a beer out there that Premier doesn't have! How many do they carry? If I had to guess, it'd be in the 500+ range.

The next time that you are in Syracuse, The Party Source on Erie Blvd has a pretty good selection of microbrews, and sells Ubu and 46er by the case and 6-pack. I want to say that I've seen the Lake Placid beers in P&C, but I could be totally wrong on that.

As for the pubs in Syracuse, Clark's Ale House has a decent selection and continuously rotates their beers. I get to Clark's once every week or two, and the beers are always different. Empire Brewery sells mostly their own beers, but they keep a few guest beers on tap (which are always New York State microbrews). Blue Tusk has by far the biggest selection, but is usually crowded and a hassle to get a beer at the bar.

I'm heading up to Lake Placid this weekend and will be fortunate enough to have some Ubu and 46er fresh from the tap at the brew pub. I look forward to it whenever I go there.

    contact UBU

if you contact UBU they will set you up with an excel spread sheet with all the data.

if they don't, post back here and I'll post the spreadsheet. it's about 2 years old, but it should still be pretty applicable.

Also, stewarts sells it at many locations in the blue line.

And I've gotten it at many local beer suppliers in Albany area.

Don't bother with supermarkets, just go straight to a beer distributor.
