New restroom facilities at DEC campgrounds?

This past weekend, we camped at Nicks Lake. Over the past year they've been replacing the "classic" DEC campground restrooms with new 21st century restrooms. The new restrooms are now (or soon to be) in every camp loop. The size is about four times the footprint of the previous restroom. Showers in each loop! Hot water at the sinks! (I hate brushing my teeth with cold water.) An outside large sink for the wife to wash my dishes. One piece Corian-like sink counters with two bowls. Hands-free faucets at the sinks. Hand dryer (currently inoperable). Wide cement walkway around the building and 3 parking spots. In addition to the separate mens and womens restrooms, there is a separate men/womens/handicapped restroom. The new building is built with 4 shower rooms (although only two of them were plumbed). Each shower room is men/women/handicapped, and is accessed from outside the building.

I guess they will be tearing down the main shower house once they finishing construction on the last restroom.

Are these changes planned for other DEC campgrounds?

alright i will be a hipocryt! i hate those 'classic' DEC campground facilities! but i just couldnt stand to see them go, its just a staple for so many fond camping moments. if they were to take them away i wish they stayed there in the more russtic places that not many people go to. And just for the referance if they do take the classic style wha t will people do when they are camping out of season, because they do lock up these facilities when the season is over.

There are thousands of families and single people who really enjoy camping but are either not able to camp in the wilderness because of small children or their preference or just prefer this type of camping more. Thankfully they can enjoy this beautiful park also and leave most of the longer more willderness type trails, leantos and wilderness camping to people like us who enjoy this experience in a very uncrowded way.

          Lake Harris

Is like this now. They have the new shower building with the showers accessable from the outside and they are unisex. I guess we can bring the wives in with us now
