    hot tubs ?

    Hi,

Anybody knows where I could find hot tubs in the Adirondacks without renting a condo or room ? The Idea would be to relaxe in a hot tub after a nice hicking day !

    Thanks !

Ooooo, just think of all those people who are coming off the trails, all hot, sweaty and unshowered, and then jumping into an hot tub. Sounds like a breeding ground of something to me. I think I would pass if there was such a thing as a free hot tub for weary hikers in favor of one that is well maintained. You would have to pay for some kind of service, because there is not much in this world that is free. And hot tub maintanance is not cheep. There are some hot tubs in certain resorts that I will not even stick my little toe into, even though it may have been one of the criterias required for my choosing where to stay.
You might try hiking out west though where there are natural occurring hot springs. Now if the temperature was right, that would be a treat.

I'm really not looking for a free hot tub !!! I don't mind and I expect to pay ! What I had more in mind than a free hot tub was something like a spa center where you pay to have access to the hot tubs and sona for a couple of hours, like similar places I know around here (Montreal) but I would prefer to go directly after the hike, before driving back here... The only hot tubs seems to be in hotels where you have to rent a room to have access to them.

Smal, Sorry for misunderstanding you. I should have read your question more carefully. It's been a long day. I don't live in the area, but if you can get your hands on a directory, you might be able to locate a health club that offers a day pass for a fee. For example, I know that YMCA's offer day passes for a fee to those interested in membership, but I don't know if there are any limitations. To me it sounds like a regular spa would be costly. Like I said before though, I am very picky about hot tubs in general, and will only use those that are maintained at the correct temperature and routinely treated. The water should also be drained weekly, or more frequently if used extensively. This information I received from an Inn in VT that I totally trust. It was stated that many establishments with hot tubs will skimp on the required maintainance to save money. This is why people get sick. It happened to me.
