Biking in Wilcox Lake WF?

Has anyone biked in this area? I'm thinking of the Harrisburg to Bakertown area +and beyond?), or Bartman Road to Fish Ponds.

I am not a mountain biker, so looking for good dirt roads or equivalent, preferably deep into a Wild Forest rather than staying on the perimeter (e.g., like the truck trail in St. Regis).

I'm not a mt. bike guy, but I've hiked most of the trails in the WLWF. Here's a few thoughts.

Harrisburg to Bakertown is a nice dirt road.

Past Bakertown, it gets a little sketchy, but is probably doable for a little way past the Wilcox Lake suspension bridge.

Bartman to Fish Ponds hasn't been maintained very well over the last few years, but it's a beautiful and very underused area. It could be fun on a bike if it wasn't for the rocks and blowdown

Another neat route to consider if you don't mind hills is West Stoney Creek Rd. from Wolf Pond Rd. to Baldwin Spring

Of course the old standard of Pine Orchard via the Coulombe Creek trail might make a nice 10 mile round trip

I think I would rather hike than bike the Fish Pond trail, based on your comments, but the other options look reasonable.

The lack of a bridge on a fordable river just means you carry the bike across.

About 30 years ago some friends and I rode mtn. bikes on West Stoney Creek Rd. to Baldwin springs, north to Lizard Pond, climbed Mt. Blue, and returned. It was pretty reasonable riding for us amateurs.

It may have received maintenance since my visit, but I hiked into Lizard (Lixard) Pond from Baldwin Springs a few years ago and that trail was pretty badly overgrown.

Last fall it was flooded with a series of beaver dams just shy of the pond. Easy detour, but would have been tough on a bike.

Thanks for the reference of these photos. I am just starting to explore the idea of bike-camping and this WF looks really promising.
