All the Marten my hunting partners and myself have seen there, have been on the ground.
We saw them last fall while deer hunting there on a daily basis.
Montcalm, If you spent some time in the Black River Wild Forest, there’s a high probability you would see a Marten to two. They are a cool animal and if seen from a distance, are easily called into camera range, by squeaking like a mouse.
That's what happened the last time I saw one. I was on the south side of Algonquin, standing still & making little squeaky sounds to see if any birds responded -- very quickly a Marten popped up right next to me.
