    From my trail cam recently..............looks pretty wolfish-looking to me.
    Unfortunately, didn't get the rest of his body.........

    Saw a coywolf on garbage night attempting to climb over cement barrier. It had to weigh 60 lbs at least and definitely was a male. This was in a very urban area in PA.

    That is a fascinating study and the result is the recommendation that the Northeastern coyote be called "coywolf", since it has 30% wolf, 60% coyote and 10% dog genes on average.

    Not so sure your description of wolf characteristics is accurate as it pertains to the so-called "eastern" or "Algonquin" wolf.

    To me, a characteristic of coyotes is the very longish legs as in the OP photo. Of wolves I have seen, in Alaska, and (possibly) one in the Adirondacks, their appearance was that they were built much more stocky and closer to the ground

    Eastern coyotes are part wolf

    There is genetic evidence to suggest that eastern coyote is a subspecies that is a hybrid of western coyote and wolf.
