A Christmas gift that I received this year, and
I can heartily recommend:

It's based in the southern Adirondacks.
It was fast reading for me.
History sprinkled with colorful stories from a wilderness park ranger/walker in the early 1980's.
I started hiking the Adirondacks in the 70's and a lot of it brought back memories of/to my experiences.
IMHO a very good read.
