Where's the Black and White Photography??

Well, I assumed there was a thread for black and white photography. So the one time I search before posting duplicate threads it turns up nothing. Did an advanced search and still nothing.

So now we have a B&W thread. Truthfully, I'm not much of a B&W shooter but occasionally I try to get all (Ansel) Adams like and do some dodging and burning.

Here are a few of my (Adirondack) favorites. Are there any other closet black and white nature shooters out there?

Cascade on the Feldspar, or maybe the Opalescent, I dont remember which.
It's all fun and games until somebody loses an eye!

Bringing this thread back from the depths of hell...

This needs some more work. The white clouds are too contrasty. A little more burning should solve the issue.

I used a new sharpening method, but I need some work on that as well. The foreground should actually be a bit crisper.

Duh, forgot this one (already in the wildflowers thread)....

I took this photo of Mount Monroe in the White Mountains a few years ago.

Most image editing programs can do it for you. I think even the default image viewer that comes with windows has some rudimentary image editing tools, and you can turn a color photo into black and white by lowering the color saturation.

For all around general image editing, I recommend Google's Picasa software. It's free, and it has a whole array of simple and easy to use image editing tools.
