    Video Adventures

Hello all. It's been months since I've posted, and I may well be forgotten around these parts, but I'm back to share a bit of fun from last Septembers trip to Colden. I've finally finished editing a series of video shorts taken over the 7 days I spent hiking with my good friend John. Some are silly, some scenic, and I'll flatter myself by saying that for someone who had never made a video of any sort, they turned out pretty good. It's 8 minutes in length, and I've posted it here..... http://youtube.com/watch?v=mgnALKrZ5YY
Incidently, the last video is of a pumpfight between my KATADYN filter and John's MSR filter, to see who could fill a nalgene bottle first, done in homage to the final gunfight in "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly".
Anyway, I sent a link to MSR, Sales and Marketing to see if they'd get a kick out of it, and apparently they forwarded it to Katadyn, and the VP of sales e-mailed and said that they enjoyed it so much that they're sending me a brand new model in appreciation, and in the hopes that my pump will win in a squel to be filmed in the La Cloche mtns this July. When I win, prerhaps MSR will provide John with a new one, and so on and so on....free water filters for life??!!

Take a few minutes and enjoy!

The server may be a little busy, it's not playing streamed (in real time). I'm going to hit pause for 10 minutes hoping it will download it during that time.

Same here, that's what I did and it worked fine. Very entertaining movie, I could stare at the driving sequence for a while.. but really, you should slow down.. s'not safe to drive that fast! For your first movie, that was very well done. I liked the western theme.. and even though the audio wasnt exceptional, I liked hearing the rumble of that water. Awesome flick man, congrats on the filter too!

Thanks. I should point out that the video was only recorded on a 3MP camera, which only had 340x280 res for video, so I certainly wasn't going for high quality, just trying to execute the concepts I had in mind

The pumpfight is awesome . Think you just found them a really good commercial concept.

Enjoyed the movie. Wish there was more footage of the actual hiking. It reminds me that maybe I should be recording more of my trips with the built in video on my digicam.

Sounds like fun, but the techies at work seem to have the site blocked. Any other way I could see it?
            thx

A most fitting tribute to one of the finest westerns ever made...right down to the seegars! But where were the Good and the Bad?

BTW, how did you guys keep a straight face for those shots? You ought to get an Oscar for the effort.

I tried to upload just the Pumpfight directly, but it exceeds the allowed size by 1 Mb. I'd be happy to e-mail it to anyone who asks though.

Well, the water was sooo cold, there wouldn't have been much for Judy to see anyway ....no large branches required

                            That was awesome!

You are really good at this. I loved the time lapse and the music so well matched to the photography.

That was way too cool. Keith and did a trip last summer from Upper Works and beyond and he recognized many of the places in the video. Awesome!
