    I can see these over and over again! The family of loons we saw on Chateaugay Lake last week ''fish'' together as well as ''swim'' together. Pretty kool until a seagull flew down and grabbed the fish b4 loon could .Stiill,they swam peacefully away. Why the loon is worthy of respect[IMO] Looncry

    My preference is the one you posted the link to on the NNY list-serve. I think that's the one now on your home page. That shot is nothing short of fabulous, a real heart melter. You captured the essence of that moment.

    Yes, we enjoyed seeing and hearing loons there last week, and they weren't especially skittish as we watched them from shore approx. 10 feet away. Interestingly, I heard some unusual (for me) vocalizations at night, not quite like the calls I've heard before...and I've heard my share of loons for years now. Mixed in with the "laugh" and "yodel" etc. were some different sounds, really cool.
