    Pharaoh lake

Katie and I took a canoe into Pharaoh Lake over Labor Day and paddled to the north shore lean-to.
Here's a couple shots from there.
    Enjoy!

Beautiful pics from the most beautiful place on earth, Gary. I hope you had a great time. You've got to tell me how you got that shot of the stars with your digital. I'm hoping to squeeze in one more trip to Pharaoh near the end of the month. Maybe I can get some good shots to share as well!

        Hi GG!
That's the trick...Don't try it with a digital. Digitals have a hard time doing long time exposures. That shot was 35mm Fuji super HQ 100asa, 20 min. exposure at F3.5. Canon A-1 with a Vivitar 28-210 zoom.
The film will slowly saturate with existing light if the shutter is left open for a long period of time.

You don't have to worry, Gary. I am strictly a point and click photographer, with just a little bit of zoom (all digital). I have a Cannon Powershot S410 and am consistently amazed at the quality an amateur like me can achieve. It is an awesome little camera. Nevertheless, that star shot is way out of my league. It is such a beauty, though. I'm hoping to get to Pharaoh soon.

This one I really love. You're right about the digital -- the effect just doesn't work as well. [i must admit that I havent tried what you did with my digital yet.] I have a pretty old film camera (20+ yrs old) and the maximum time on the 'bulb' exposure is 2 minutes.

I got some pretty interesting effects with my daughters dance troop a year or so ago at their dress rehearsal, but that was a delay of a VERY short time.

Gary, I really like the one looking out over the lake. It makes me feel like I am there, sitting out on that rock relaxing, looking at the fires across the lake. That is such a beautiful spot...what a great pic. Makes me wish I was there.

I was there and it was beautiful. With no moon the stars were really bright. It would have been relaxing if the crazy people across the bay weren't screaming to their music! We were wondering where Redhawk was to smash their radio.
