Those are beautiful but what is that splash of red on the bottom of the first image?

I think Hawk is right, the pics don't do justice to the size and colors, a rainbow of shades over miles and thousands of feet depth, it is huge!!!

Chairrock, were your pics taken from the South Rim or did you hike down any of the trails? Beautiful views!

            Edelweiss,
From the south rim, we wern't set up for hiking nor did our plans allow for the time. I wish I had gone out there 30 years ago when I was in alot better shape. I've been telling my friends to make sure their kids do Grand Canyon before they age. One of our long term goals is to get into good enough shape to go back and do it right.

Hubby Dick and I (both senior citizens) hiked the Hermit Trail from the South Rim last year. Don't let age stop you

Oh my ...those last 2 shots of the Canyon are truly incredible...they both show a differant mood...the first looks so rugged ,cold and scary...and the second one looks alot warmer , and nicer...were they taken on the same day?

Also, I recognize the first pic...we were exactly in the same spot...it was alittle hairy viewing the Canyon across there for some reason ...maybe cause the other pinnacle was so close ,showing the extreme dropoff better...I guess you have to be there to feel the whole effect ...Chairrock? Did you feel the same at that point?..
