Off to Colorado

I'm headin' out to Colorado for the long weekend - got a $169 r/t fair on Delta. Will camp in the Horn Fork Basin (Collegiate Peaks Wilderness). The plan is to bag Mt. Harvard and Mt. Columbia on Sunday. So far the weather forecast looks good!
Only problem is I'll be going with my son and 3 of his friends - all 21 years old and cadets at the Air Force Academy. They live at 7000 ft., are extremely fit, and have a 30 year head start on me. My goal is to survive the weekend. If so I'll have some awesome pix next week. Wish me luck.

It was incredible! Didn't get up Columbia, but did Harvard. One of these days I'll get around to posting a trip report and pix

I too have Columbia still to do. I remember hiking up the basin about 2 miles and camping out. The 2 miles between the 2 peaks is ROUGH. My friend made it to about 14K' even on Harvard and got a little sick. I ascended the remaining 400' gain of light scrambling to the summit. I was dehydrated and my filter was back down at the camp, soI bailed back down Harvard, caught up with my friend and we tromped back down to camp like zombies.

How many others out here have you done?
Since discovering this site I now have too many lists of peaks to do out here and now 46 MORE peaks in NY.

IT NEVER ENDS!! I have more lists then actual time to hike and climb with an expectant wife.
