    Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail

The LHHT is a classic 70 mile linear trail in western PA. It features eight shelter areas, cool rock formations and mazes, some views, scenic streams, lots of cool footbridges, fern glades, a serene pond, and hiking across a ski resort, reminding me of the Long Trail. I thruhiked it and had a good time. The southern thirty miles were particularly scenic. It was great to end in gorgeous Ohiopyle State Park.

My friend and I backpacked the beginning section many years ago in the winter. We had my friend's Golden Retriever with us. Had to be two feet of snow or more and no one but us were there. Ran into a ranger who informed us that dogs weren't allowed. Came back the following year and my friend left his dog at home (I wanted him to bring him). Ran into the same ranger who said, "I remember you guys, you had the dog with you"!!!
