    The FLT near Letchworth

A friend of mine is looking into doing part of the Finger Lake Trail out near Letchworth state park. It's sections 6, 7, & 8 of the FLT, has anybody done these sections? If so do you know where he could find some maps of the trail. The FLT website has little to no info on the trail itself, but does list some books to buy. Any info would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    A Partial Map

I haven't hiked that particular part. I have mostly just done parts of the trail in Steuben County. A map of Letchworth which includes the trails in the park itself and the FLT Letchworth Spur), can be found here. For anything else, I think you are going to need to order the guide books and maps directly from the FLT. Their offices are at the northern terminus of the Letchworth Spur, so your friend could probably just get the maps there if he went when someone was there.

That's all I've ever really found online. Hope it helps.

Hi Backpacker- I have hiked those sections a few times when I lived in Honeoye Falls. Contrary to your comment, of the FLTC site being no help, you can purchase the maps here:FLTC Trail Maps
The maps can also be purchased at the local WNY and GV EMS's (Usually kept over by the Topo drawers.) I beleive they are still a dollar per map, with all proceeds going towards the FLTC.
      Good luck

        Eastern FLT

I "discovered" a portion of the FLT, crossing Beech Hill Rd. in the Catskills, just So. of the Pepactin Resevior.

Thanks for the map link Keuka97 I'll pass it on tommorow. Rick I looked at the map on the FLT site it shows the hole trail but no semi closups of the trail. The link from Keuka97 shows how the trail winds thru Letchworth, I can take this map and compare it to my topo maps and get a good picture of the lay of the trail. and then print the map and pass it onto my friend. Most likely he'll buy a map of those areas we're just trying to get a good feel for the land.
          Thanks

I visited Letchworth last year for a couple days....me and my gf made it about 7 or 8 miles and back down the FLT...it was a fairly good walk...large path that used to be railroad from Letworth...eventually making its way into a swampy area, which we had to bypass to get around...and there were some old locks to check out...

But we turned back, since we wanted to check out Letchworth itself one last time before we left.

Letchworth on its own is a pretty rewarding if not too public hike. Tons of stuff to see and do.

The FLT near Letchworth was "ok"...the swamp part was hellish, and we had to turn around and bypass...but it wasnt a big deal.
