Eales Preserve on Moosic Mtn (PA)

A large preserve owned by the Nature Conservancy, Eales Preserve protects some of the largest heath barrens in the eastern US. There are non-stop views of up to 30-40 miles. There are miles of trails for both hiking and mountain biking. In the next few weeks, the barrens will turn red, becoming an amazing sight.

Thanks for the post. I hiked the area last Sunday, while waiting for the marathon to get going below.

Took the Blueberry trail across and then detoured under the power lines to get a shot of sunrise. Then I continued down through the woods and out near the High voltage trail, I think. Headed back along the Stonehenge and Conglomerate trail. Over 6.5 gps miles. Quite a unique and interesting area, the colors were popping nicely on that day.

Nice! I've lived the last 5 years on the same road that passes this preserve and never made it down there. Going to have to make some time to see more of the local sites.

That area looks sweet and only an hour+ away from me. Can I assume that snowshoeing is allowed?
