  • Nova Scotia Info?

We're heading for Nova Scotia over Labor Day weekend, planning to stay 5 nights on Cape Breton Island.

Has anyone visited this area, and if so, what things shouldn't we miss? We're looking to do some day hikes, and anything else that sounds fun while we're there!!

Thanks in advance for anyone's input!!

DO NOT miss the tides in the Bay of Fundy, there are amazing, 40+ feet. Many of the cities along the Bay offer Tidal Bore Rides that are well worth the price. You may also consider a Whale Watch trip. The Cabot Trail around the north of the Island is spectacular, a narrow 2-lane highway that follows the cliffs around the north shore. It's been a number of years since I've been there and I'm planning on returning next summer to kayak in the Bay. Enjoy, its a great place.

OK Kevin, I expect a full report on this trip. Laughing, because I just opened my mail and there was a a brochure on trips in Nova Scotia offered when you go on the CAT from Bar Harbor. Seriously, one of these summers I want to take Paul over on the CAT when we're at Acadia and would like to find out what the best one night trip would be.

        Hey PB ...
we thought about the CAT but decided to drive all the way instead ... if the weather cooperates maybe we can cruise with the top down most of the way!!

not sure if we'll get down in the southern part of NS where the CAT lands (Yarmouth) ... seems like there's lots to do up north on Cape Breton, but ya never know.

          KWC,
If you are driving to Nova Scotia and not taking the Ferry to Yarmouth (a very long drive), stop at the Bay of Fundy National Park in New Brunswick. The view of the "Flower Pot Rocks" and the 45 foot tide shouldn't be missed.

            Crab Cakes

Bring your own beer supply, cuz it costs more up there.
