    Shoulder harness for gps

I came across this as a method to carry the gps chest high for better reception and easy access along with space for a compass, radio and other stuff.

    Radio chest harness

    Great for digital camera too!

I use a cell phone holder that attaches to a belt (or strap) and I attached it to the shoulder strap of my backpack. It provides unhindered reception and easy access as I hike.

Polling multiple RINO Units at the same time.

I got this off the RINO forum on Yahoo. It explains how to find the location of several RINO units at once.

If you name all the units with the same first four characters, they will
      all respond to a poll.

So, if you name your units
      BOB
      MARY
      SUZI
      JOHN

you will have to poll each unit.... but if you name them all

      1234BOB
      1234MARY
      1234SUZI
      1234JOHN,
you can poll 1234 and all will answer at a random time in the next 30
seconds. What I have done is to temporarily name a unit 1234 so it gets
stored in the base uint's contact list. That gives you the 1234 you
will need to poll all of the units.

We use this with the ham radio system APRS (instead of 1234) and name
our rino units APRSxxxxxx (where xxxxxx is the ham radio callsign of the
person with the rino), also in the South Carolina State Guard, we use
      SCSG as the first 4.

530 - more to think about

The 530 comes with a rechargeable battery that is only good for 16 hours. Spare battery packs are $65.00 a pop!!
