    GPS Problem

    I have a Garmin Summit and this model doesn’t have a memory to save data when I change the battery. So, like a dummy I forgot to record the “Map Datum” for this area can anyone help me out?

    Tom McG,
    You still should be okay.

    The Garmin Etrex Summit unit does not lose stored data or settings when the batteries are removed or changed.

    If I were to guess;
    I'd say your Summit map datum was set at: WGS 84

    Good Luck,
    John

    Edit:to Double check your Summits setup;
    1. go to the main menu
    2. go to Setup menu
    3. go to Units
    4. second item down is your "map datum"

      JJW,
      Thanks, the unit reset to the default setting of NAD27 CONUS and if that was right then I would have been standing in the middle of the Hudson.

        You can try WGS84/NAD83 with is another typical map datum.
