Renting snow shoes in the Keene Valley area

I know there's one place on 73 that rents them, but anyone have any rental spots that you prefer?

Also, what are their general hours of operation? I was thinking it might be better to rent from ems locally for the whole weekend (even if they're only needed for a day) so I could make sure I'd get them back before closing.

High Falls Gorge - on 86 near Whiteface - rents snowshoes too. No clue on the rates, but they have lots of shoes.
    Happy Trails!

      The Mountaineer

Kevin I know the mountaineer does! Also the EMS in Lake Placid does. WE rented some last winter for like 20 bucks for 3 days. You cannot beat that price!

If I'm not mistaken the Loj will rent shoes and poles too.

Placing I was thinking of is on 73 ("Ski Center" I think it's called). Saw it Sunday coming from Lake Placid. It was $12 /day...

Where can I get $20 weekend rentals on shoes??? That's a great price

            snowshoe rental

The Albany Chapter of the ADK rents snowshoes for $5/day. If you pick them up Friday night, use them just Sat., return them Sunday, you pay just $5. Now that's a deal! They are good quality shoes also. Another reason for anyone in the Albany area to join ADK! The person who actually rents them lives in Clifton Park.

Do any of these places rent step in crampons? I already have my own snowshoes and crampons but my NYC born and raised girlfriend does not. I am in the process of showing her the great outdoors and she has taken to it quite well (she's 33 but acts like a kid when she gets into the woods). Anyway she got a pair of Crampon Compatable hiking boots for Christmas last year :-) .... and would like to give the winter hiking thing a try.
