Im shopping for a new winter bag...What do you suggest? I currently use a north face tundra -20, but i think shes gettin a little cold. Im torn between down and another synthetic? I was thinking Moonstone but for the price I could get a Western mountaineering? And if you know of a cheap place to buy.....that would help

For synthetics, check out one of these:
Manufacturer of the finest sleeping bags and outdoor gear in the world. Nothing keeps you you warm & dry in cold, wet conditions like Wiggy's!
Guaranteed for most everything including LOSS OF LOFT...to my knowledge no other bag manufacturer will guarantee their synthetic bags against this. Price isn't horrible either.
For down, look at these:
Big Agnes inspires you to get outside with our comfortable, durable, and lightweight sleeping bags, tents, sleeping pads, and more. Shop Big Agnes.
I've been hearing good reports back on the Pomer Hoit 0 deg. bag. You could add one of the lighter bags as part of their layering system to get the rating you are looking for, and have a seperate bag for summer use.
I also like the looks of the BA sleeping pad system, as it keeps the pad under you regardless of how much you toss and turn during the night, and saves some bag weight. -
i'm kinda surprised that big agnes is the only(?) manufacturer to make sleeping bag/pad systems like that.
my guess is that in the next couple years we'll start seeing a lot more of this kind of thing.
after seeing the effectiveness of such systems myself, i'm convinced it's the only way to go - seriously, why lug all that wasted sleeping bag around, when nearly half of your sleeping bag is completely useless?Fly Fisher's Anglers Association- a fine drinking club with a fishing problem

Here's another similar bag:
my guess is the Pomer could be a tick warmer than other down bags becuase it has 22 oz. of fill, all above you, compared to 30-35 oz in other 0 down bags.
"made in colorado?"
Wiggys of course
. Jerry does custom bags. I'd like a thin bottom with a sleeve to accept one of his pads, custom fit , and a real thick top, maybe equal to his -60 bag, but probably more like the top of the Ultima that I linked above. In the lighter shell material that he now offers. The hardest part of the whole thing is convincing Jerry to build it. He would rather use his regular material for a true winter bag. I wouldn't mind but it makes his bags a bear to compress.

makes sense now... since it's been well documented that colorado is the yuppy-ville of the rockys.

I wouldn't say ALL of Colorado, but certainly Boulder, Aspen, Vail, and Telluride. See Ken? I'm a good sport.Originally posted by saccoohhh.
