    Raftinguy's Norway Photos

I know you guys enjoy nice photos. I finally uploaded some photos from our trip to Norway in July of 2003. These are a few of the better ones. I took over 200, so I thought I would just post some highlights. Let me know what you think.

Was there a trip report for these? I would like to know more about this.

Well, I'm not sure what you would want in the trip report. I probably should explain a little better.

We spent 12 days in Norway last July. The first week we spent travelling around the western part of the country and visiting the fjords and the mountains surrounding them. We travelled by car for the most part. There were a couple of places we did some short hikes, but the bulk of the photos I took were within sight of the car. I strategically tried to eliminate signs of civilization wherever I could.

That being said, there are tons of AWESOME looking hikes in this area. As a native ADK'er, I have always known how rare alpine tundra is here in NY. In Norway, however, it is all over the place, which is really neat.

On the other hand, this was a really great trip, even by car. Most of the roads over there are not very wide, and some of the roads have switchbacks(more severe than Whiteface) to get up the steep climbs. There were places that were so narrow they had built pulloffs so you could let the car coming from the other direction get by.

Anyway, I will be happy to answer any and all questions you have. There are quite a few things to do and places we didn't get to see that I want to go back for. My wife and I are already trying to figure out when we can go back. It's tough with a new baby around though so it might be a few years.

      So, ask away!
