    New User of a MSR MiniWorks Microfilter

    To start with, I'm not 100% sure if I'm posting this question in the right location, but since I'm new to the msg board I figured someone might be able to point me in the right direction...

    I have hiked in the Adirondacks quite a few times, but I have always used a water treatment solution like this;

    Recently one of the local shops in Montreal was running a special on MSR's MiniWorks EX Microfilter and I figured I'd pick one up.

    The only question I have, is should I still use the water treatment solution after using the filter or would the Microfilter be sufficient in the Adirondacks?

    Tks,
    Brad

    The filter is fine. you don't need additional treatment.

        I have used an older version of the same filter without any other treatment, many years in the Adirondacks, without ever a problem.

                I've used that filter all over the world with no problems. The only thing I don't like about it is cleaning it all the time and the slow pump rate. Other than that it's great.
