I was looking at the Vasque Clarion Impact Gore-Tex® Boots (from campmor) One of my buddies swears by Vasque, but I've never worn 'em before. Anyone a diehard fan of Vasque or have other suggestions for a light-mid weight hiking boot? (GTX preferred)

Vasque Clarion Impact Gore-Tex Boots
I am on my second pair. Put a whole lot miles on the first pair to the point where I walked right out of the tread. They seem to run a little more narrow than the avg boot which is good for me since I have a narrow foot.
2nd pair was put to the test right out the box w/virtualy no break in time and I can't recall every having a blister problem.
The only thing I don't like is that the rubber on the front does not come up to cover part of the top front of the boot, I see I am getting some wear in that area....but this pair is on its 3rd season so who am I to complain. The old pair had this feature.
I like mine so much my wife bought a pair as well and she loves hers too.
A big
's up from us.

good to know. I dont think the narrowness (is that a word?) will bother me, my feet arent that wide. I'm just looking forward to the goretex and a decent pair of hoofs to last me more than a few seasons. Thanks for the input!Comment

I have worn them for over 18 years and would'nt hike with anything else. They are almost bomb proof.

I have a pair of Vasque Clarions. They are very comfortable and have held up well over the past 7 years or so. I'm looking at replacing them this year though as the tread is getting a bit worn and they don't have the traction they used to.46er #6299Comment

don't know if you've bought them already but vasque are either great or horrible, it all depends on the width of your foot. If you've got a wide foot in any way shape or form they won't fit (I used to fit and selling hiking boots) but if your foot is normal or narrow they fit well. So if you are a C or a D width, your probably ok, any width in there though and its going to rub... anyway, you can always return them as well.Comment

I have never bought a pair of shoes by mail order, especially hiking boots. Unless you've tried the exact model and size, you should actually wear them before buying. A good pair of boots should last years, so a wise investment is worth every penny.
I've had friends that love the Vasques, but as previously mentioned these boots are either good or bad depending on your foot type.Comment

I'm gonna try and find them around town and try them on. Get the exact size and whatnot, then order 'em from Campmor. I noticed they also sell the wide width pair as well, I dont think I have a wide foot.. but if I did, that should work, eh?
