While I have been very satisfied with my MSR Denalis, I was a little surprised to see some rust had built up on the crampons when I took them out this morning. I read the manual which said to rinse and spray with WD40, which I promptly did after discovering the rust. I guess I should have done it after yesterday's trip up Jo. I'm puzzled as to why they don't consist of stainless steel. Has anyone else had this problem? Any other tips for keeping these shoes in "peak" shape? I will definitely take the WD40 thing more seriously now. I love the shoes and want to take good care of them. -GG

stainless steel is heavy as well as expensive compared to most other metals.
Aluminum is light but won't take the beating crampons are subject to.
wiping them and using wd40 is wise."If future generations are to remember us with gratitude rather than contempt, we must leave them more than the miracles of technology. We must leave them a glimpse of the world as it was in the beginning, not just after we got through with it." Lyndon B. Johnson -
If you can find Fluid Film try it. It's thicker than WD, lasts longer, and has no solvents. Like WD it's got tons of uses."Buddy, I think I ate your pop tarts!"Comment
