    2.5qt or 3qt backpacking pots?

I go backpacking with my brother and we like to eat an aweful lot (heheh) and our 2q pot just isn't big enough, so we're looking for a 2.5 or 3q pot to replace it. The key of course is lightweight and I've been looking around for pots but the individual weights are hard to come by because they usually seem to come in a set.

Does anyone know of 2.5 or 3q titanium pots (preferable) or stainless steel ones? I know there's a 3Q Olicamp Stainless Steel Kettle that looks good and the lid is a frying pan (preferable), but no clue on the weight of that. I know REI has a 4q titanium pot but we don't eat that much!

    Thanks!

Campmor has a great selection of pots, either in sets or individually.

Personally, I prefer aluminum to stainless or titanium for weight/value ratio.

The whole thing with health risks to aluminum though discourages me from getting one. Titanium is great, but I can't find anything in between 2qt and 4qt ones. I'm gonna keep looking and see what I can find.

Yeh I know what you mean. I've used aluminum all my life and now I'm a weak and feeble 63.

Unless you're backpacking more days than eating at home, and mostly cooking tomato sauce and other acidic foods, I don't think you need to worry about the aluminum that much, if it's the Alzheimers/Aluminum issue you're concerned about.

Exactly, I've used aluminum for years and I don't have any traces of........what the hell were we talking about???????

I've heard that aluminum causes gum disease so it can make you lose all your teeth!

Sorry Redhawk, I couldn't resist. I hope you are healing well. I have had miserable gum and tooth problems my whole life. Been through gum surgery twice - NEVER AGAIN. I'll have them pulled!

I think I may have found the pot that I'd like to get, but it's part of a huge set. Would anyone perchance know how to just get the 2.5qt without the set? The great thing is that since it's anodized, there's no issues with the metals leaching. They don't tell you the individual weights of the pots though. Also because the metal is harder, it's almost like non-stick which is very cool.

Also I did research the aluminum issue a bit and found out that the leaching from the pots isn't actually the main issue with aluminum, it's the type that's found in the drinking water. It seems there's two forms of it, the single molecule version (in the water) and the multi-molecule in the pots. The single molecules are much more readily absorbed into the body and there are links between that and Alzheimers.
