    Funky boots

No this is not a thread on dancing! in fact i have a horrible funk emiting from my boots. A few weeks back when i was bushwhacking i had to ford a few streams. A few days after, my hike my g/f was yelling at me for not wearing deoderant, but in fact i was! the horrible smell she caught wiff of was my boots ( for once). Whats the best and fastest way to get smell out of boots? My poor boys are stuck outside in the freezing cold untill they air out, and yes they are that bad! in fact they stink up the whole kitchen when left at the front door! also makes me wonder what was in the water!

Try soaking them overnight in a solution of oxyclean the let airdry. I always use oxyclean to get the poodle stench out of my dogs pack and it works great.

Wiley, now I know what that smell was up on Lyon Mtn. last weekend. Your freakin' smelly feet! Haha!

Stick a hair dryer on the cool setting in them right away when you get home, outside if your g/f prefers. Once dry they shouldn't stink. Fvrwld's idea sounds pretty good as does the lighter fluid option.

              Lighter fluid

Anyway, I found what Neil says to be true - had the same problem (even started a similar thread about it) and once the boots went unused and fully dried, the problem disappeared. Once completely dry the bacteria/living-garbage causing the smell die.

                just let them breeze !

Yes, I just leave them on balcony ( actually on firestair ) . After couple sunny, breezy days they are friendly again . After that I gratify them with best shocare - and we live together many years already ( Rocky G-T ) .

Coming from a big hockey family.......(that is lots and lots of smelly wet gear) ....... Drying them out usually eliminates the odors until they become wet again. If you live near any hockey rinks or stores, check to see if any of them clean gear. I'm not sure how it works, but it is supposed to kill off all of that bacteria that makes everything smell. Here is a link to one cleaning site........... http://www.playitclean.ca/process.asp

                      Kitty Litter

If you haven't solved this yet, fill panty hose feet with kitty litter, stick in boots & let it absorb the stench, then throw it out!

I second the motion on Kitty litter. The more expensive stuff with the little specs of "odor eating" material. The stuff is amazing in some situations.

I'll give the kitty litter a try. So far i have soaked them in a solution of oxyclean and lysol, i have washed and dryed them, and i have also let them sit under a wood burning stove for hours on end. The funk is still there and i have started breaking in new boots. Hopefully the kittly litter will work, kinda ironic on how they smell like a cat went the bathroom in them.

What size are your feet? I could probably help you get rid of those smelly boots (I need a new pair and I smell so bad no one would notice).

                              The boots are 8 1/2 or 9.
