Your link did not work for me but if you mean the Katadyn Base Camp, yes it works fine, so far. I have used it on two paddle trips. It is nice not to pump. I use an empty gallon jug for filling and generally filter right into my nalgene or whatever. Last trip I had two jugs. One for the filtered water and one for filling the unit. The nice thing is it takes the same filter as the Hiker Pro.
I don't know anything about these types of filters, but 1.3 gallons per hour seems a little slow. They do have an "Expedition" filter that does a gallon a minute - but costs $1,105.00!!!

Since you don't have to pump it, and assuming that you set it up as soon as you make camp, you should have a quart of water in 15 minutes. In the morning you can have 4 quarts of water ready for breakfast and to fill your water bottles with, without having to pump any at all.
I look at this filter as a camp filter, not a trail filter.

The spec here states " Output: Up to 0.5 liters per minute". My experience is that it flows fairly quickly, faster then pumping. This was a new filter and relativly clear water.
That said it is a very convenint base camp filter.
The first need is rated .4 microns. I thought .2 is needed? Someone please correct me if I am mistaken.
