    Camera on Shepard's Tooth (MacIntyres)

Lost on Shepard’s Tooth (below Iroquois Peak- MacIntyre Range, ADKs)
Pentax digital camera (waterproof!) in a small (3”x5”) black and gray “Lowe-Pro” case.

On October 24, 2004, I lost my camera somewhere on the herd path that descends from Shepard’s Tooth into Cold Brook Pass. It’s somewhere between the Tooth’s summit and the last cliff before you reach the bottom.

It’s waterproof, so if it’s ever found, it should still work, and all of the spectacular pictures that I took on Algonquin, Iroquois, and the Tooth will still be there. Of course, I didn’t have my name anywhere on the camera or case.

Reward to the hiker who can find this “needle in a haystack”!

Since the first snows began within 2 weeks of my losing the camera, it should still be there under the ice. I'm planning a recovery mission in early June. The regional Pentax sales rep is interested in knowing about the condition of the Pentax camera if... WHEN I find it. I'll post here when the hike date approaches.

Yeah, it was windy... but PinPin JR did it!

The recovery mission might be on Thursday, June 9th. I'm planning on leading an ADK paddle trip that weekend, and the "Tooth" hike would be done as a prelude to our trips through the Fish Creek Ponds region.

This is the weekend that I had planned to go back to Shepherd's Tooth and find my camera. Only one problem: I had major surgery last month (I'm OK now), and I can't hike! It will be at least two more months before I can consider going back up there.

If anybody's headed that way (it's a great hike, with some tough bushwhacking), I'd appreciate it if you'd look. PM me for more info. Thanks. -Bob

Gee whiz, I was just up there the other day and I sure didn't see no camera. Nosiree bob. No digital camera that is waterproof (good feature dare I add) up there did I find. No way at all. I sure looked hard but gosh darn it I came up empty handed.

                    Liars, all of you.

In fact I have your camera, and for a mere ransom of $350 you can have it back .

Return to the Tooth, August 6-7, 2005

                          Shepherd's Tooth - MacIntyres & camera recovery? Aug 6-7

                          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
One night, Saturday & Sunday. Hike with me from the ADK Loj, through Avalanche Pass to Lake Colden and spend the night. On day 2 (Sunday), we'll hike up Algonquin Pass (Cold Brook Pass) and up to Shepherd's Tooth, Iroquois, Algonquin (2nd highest peak in NY), and return to the Loj.

CAMERA RECOVERY MISSION: Some of you might remember that last October, I posted that I had lost my (waterproof) camera on the herd path as I descended Shepherd's Tooth, below Iroquois. I returned on Halloween and attempted to repeat that hike, but was turned back by high wind on the summits. It snowed a week after my failed attempt, and due to various events, this weekend is my first opportunity since the snow melted to search for my little camera (and it's a good excuse to do this hike again). Since the camera is waterproof, the elements probably didn't hurt it. And besides, I had a 512MB card in there with some incredible images made from Algonquin, Iroquois, and the Tooth! I at least want to get the SD memory card back.

I'll post the full details under trips/events
