I contacted our host and they blew me off. They offered no explanation for our recent issues, and if these issues persist I will start looking for a new host. I certainly will NOT be upgrading my package with our current host and will be looking for a new host in time anyways.

Kevin, Try http://imhosted.com
Great service, great rate and they address and fix any problems immediately. They are also very quick to answer questions."If future generations are to remember us with gratitude rather than contempt, we must leave them more than the miracles of technology. If things keep deteriorating here, you may want to move sooner. I had to click several times to retrieve a private message this afternoon and it aborted the send on several tries also. It also took an enormous amount of time for the site to load when I logged on this morning sometime between 11 and 12.
Nothing will cause people to stop using a website faster then slow loading."If future generations are to remember us with gratitude rather than contempt, we must leave them more than the miracles of technology. Well, we're home on our new server now. Redhawk suggested we have a gallery for pictures. It may not be feaseable yet because the storage space is a little limited, but maybe 20MB per member would suffice (considering only a certain percentage would actually use it).
Load times should be better, and uptime consistent.Comment

I don't think we really need to have a gallery for pictures considering there are so many free services out there like Webshots, and Photobucket.A man needs to believe in something. I believe I'll go hiking.

When I originally joined, it was stipulated that photos of paid subscribers would not be marketed without their permission. When I wrote to customer service they tole me that the "rukes had changed" when it was sold and that they did not feel obligated to notify current members of the change.
Fortunately I had a copy of the original agreement (I don't dump anything) and after a few words with their legal department they decided to compensate me for the sales. I told them to remove me and they said that they could close my account but were unable to remove my pictures (this after I could no longer get to the site because of the cancelled account.
Some more dialog with the legal department and they either decided to fess up or get programmers who knew how to delete the pictures. I still "roam the halls" now and then to make sure nothing of mine is there."If future generations are to remember us with gratitude rather than contempt, we must leave them more than the miracles of technology. whats the limit Kev? I forget. When I first got on IMHosted a coiple of years ago, they had some difficulties for two months in a row and had like 7% downtime as a res8ult (they were fairly new then). As a result i got the monthe free, unlimited space and unlimited bandwidth for life, (or possibly for only as long as I subscribe to their service).
Too bad there isn't an easy way to use my space short of an external link.
Could set up a link to an html page in your domain with an automatic no delay rediret to a gallery in siouxme.com I could put it in a ADK directory and the addy would be ADK.siouxme.com."If future generations are to remember us with gratitude rather than contempt, we must leave them more than the miracles of technology. We'll talk. I figure if the forum files (about 50MB effectively) and database (currently only 15MB) ever exceed 500MB we'll need to do some serious cleanup. I'm also going to be selfish, since I'm paying for this out of pocket anyway, and I'm going to move my hiking photos page and a hardly visited old music project page to the forum server. If we ever hit limits we can upgrade anytime and at minimal cost.
So, I'm thinking we should have about 500MB free for the gallery, so maybe 5-10MB per member? I relaxed the attachment requirements on the forum, so you really could just post stuff in the threads on the forum anyway with no limits (so the gallery is really just a gimmick).Comment
