    Upcoming Trips Page?

is it possible to add an upcoming trips page to the site ?

i'm still pretty new to this forum, and i haven't been on thebackpacker forum much longer, but i have to say that i like this forum much better in most areas.

one thing that i do really like about thebackpacker site is that they have a Trips page.

i know this forum has the Events category, but if you check out what i mean :

thebackpacker.com is your first and best source for all of the information you’re looking for. From general topics to more of what you would expect to find here, thebackpacker.com has it all. We hope you find what you are searching for!

you'll see it's not quite the same thing.

the Trips page keeps everything in chrono. order and makes it real easy to just scan through, make some notes on my calendar and plan for some upcoming trips.

just using the Events board on here is not nearly as easy.

i don't think a trips page would have to be that fancy.
i don't know how it would work with Vbulletin, but if it's at all possible to do, i think it would really help the people on this forum plan trips together - especially if they're a few months in advance.

There's a calendar feature we might be able to hijack for this use, and I considered using it for just that when we got big enough to justify time spent on it... and maybe this is an indication we've reached that size ...

I should have a few minutes in the coming week to noodle with the calendar options and see if it's feaseable.

I activated the calendar feature. Getting people to use an often overlooked vbulletin feature is another story...

Hi Adam, I'm interested in doing more Pennsylvania stuff. I'm going to dig out my book of Pa. trails. Occasionally I see some stuff posted on Whiteblaze about Pa. Eventually I also plan on section hiking all of the PA AT.

maybe you could include a note in the "welcoming" post/letter when people join.

a little note that says :

"welcome to the forum...yada, yada... enjoy your stay.. yada, yada... now go the the calendar page and sign up for a trip or post a new trip, or you'll be kicked off and your P.C. will be infected with the GETOFFYOURLAZYA** VIRUS.

I've considered it, but most of the time people just delete the welcome message. No need to add more email clutter across the internet
