If I ever make a get together I will definitely bring a guitar along.
I'll have to learn the string parts then since you'll already be playing the rhythm and doing the vocals.

I learned it out of necessity back in college, trying to come up with a few popular songs to play at a live show. Our performance wasn't the best, but we did manage to have a pretty nice transition written that took us from Disarm into STP's "Kitcheware and Candybars".

I still have a copy of Siamese Dream laying around. Probably one of those albums I'll always own and enjoy. I could take/leave the rest of their material though.

The Pumpkins/Corgan are of course big Rush fans, so we have something dear to me in common.

A lead guitar playing in the e minor pentatonic scale sounds pretty sweet during Disarm too.

It's amazing how like-minded people tend to flock together. I've played my share of gigs. In college I was a bad guitar player so I played bass and sang for a number of bands [and actually opened for Poison before they got really big] and then i went on to play lead guitar in a few bands. I still play, but mostly into my computer/studio at home. I like doing cover songs with my daughter who has a pretty good voice. My absolute favorite stuff to play is Rush, Hendrix and Dream Theater, both hard enough to keep my mind from drifting.

I'm a fan of Rush and we used to play some Hendrix tunes in my band...hey joe, purple haze, and foxy lady. And watchtower but that's Dylan's. My Vox Valvetronix amp has some pretty cool Hendrix inspired pre-sets. Now, though, I'm mainly an acoustic guitarist...my strat is getting lonely. Cool to hear that you opened for poison, Kurt.

Thanks, dog! I won't be posting it here, though everyone can take a look at it on January 1st...I'll repost the link then. I'm just putting the finishing touches on my second short story, and have already started my third. And as a musical note, it looks like my band might be getting back together for a July 4th gig. I've already been sifting through some new songs and putting together a tentative set list.

Congratulations. I look forward to reading your story.

I published a short story in a mystery magazine about four years ago that partially took place in Glacier National Park. Called it Griz. It was really just a take-off on the old joke about not having to outrun a bear, just outrun your companion.
