    Waypoints/tracks

I'm hoping to build something of a database of waypoints and tracks.

There are, of course, some places we need not have everyone on the forum visit. Naturally certain things need not be posted (I have even curtailed posting some waypoints I have) for sake of minimizing impact in a certain area. Hiking is not geocaching! An interesting place found easily by following waypoints with a GPS could end up leading a lot more people than the area can sustain without regular maintenance. We don't want to destroy the objective with unscheduled and unprepared over-use.

But there are plenty of other hikes that, especially in the winter, having waypoints in a GPSr for emergency reasons could be very useful. If anything I use my GPSr more for safety than to actually navigate on trails. Bushwhacking's another story!

I think that is a very responsible and welcome position. If you take the time to waypoint something you find that is interesting/beautiful/cool/etc. it makes no sense to destroy it by inviting 100 million of your closest internet friends, does it

    WELL DONE.

Precisely, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't share them in private.

Just a note, attached files are only viewable by registered forum members. Items posted here would be limited to a select number of people.
