    Oil Crisis

    A lot of folks can't understand how we came to have an oil shortage here in our country.
    ~~~
    Well, there's a very simple answer.
    ~~~
    Nobody bothered to check the oil.
    ~~~
    We just didn't know we were getting low.
    ~~~
    The reason for that is purely geographical.
    ~~~
    Our OIL is located in :
    ~~~
    ALASKA
    ~~~
    California
    ~~~
    Coastal Florida
    ~~~
    Coastal Louisiana
    ~~~
    Wyoming
    ~~~
    Colorado
    ~~~

    Kansas
    ~~~
    Oklahoma
    ~~~
    Pennsylvania
    and
    Texas
    ~~~
    Our dipsticks are located in DC
    Any Questions? NO?...Didn't think So.
      God sure is a joker. He put our oil under their sand.
      I just saw a report about the new green energy saving bulbs. Apparently they contain mecury. A woman dropped one that broke in her kitchen and she was given a quote of $2,000 to do a hazmat cleanup.
      But aside from breaking one, the real problem will come from their disposal. Maybe the bulbs should have a deposit tacked on to encourage people to bring them to recycling centers or hazmat disposal sites.
      Every "solution" requires planning for the downsides. Ignoring them so we can pat ourselves on the back for coming up with the solution is disasterous.
        That mercury is in all florescent bulbs. It's how they work. An important point is, if you break one, do NOT clean it up with a vacuum cleaner.
          The other odd thing in the news story is they showd a guy going through his house and replacing his incadescents with the new green bulbs, and he said he spent $750 dollars on the new bulbs. At $3 each, that's 250 bulbs! Me thinks he has too many damn lights in his house.
            They do make mercury free flourescents now. They have green end caps instead of the silver. I'm not sure about the small spiral ones but definitely on the straight tubes.
