    my future home...

I saw this and couldnt resist.

Hey Gary, the guy said he built it with little more than a chainsaw, shovel, hammer, and chisel. Got a few months to spare to help me with a little project? or it could be the backcountry heritage underground lair,...I mean headquarters.
He found himself wondering at times, especially in the autumn, about the wild lands, and strange visions of mountains that he had never seen came into his dreams.

he said it was built "with help from passers by"...what, they yelled "hey you - come over here and help us build a hut" to people walking by? what a grat idea! Tomorrow morning I'm starting an addition to my home - there are lots of people who walk past my house - it should be finished by xmas.

I liked this quote regarding the structural framing

" 30 or so small trees and a bit of chainsawing later. Lift logs, prop up, nail together and continue until no longer wobbly. "

I wonder with building codes being what they are, if you'd be able to put up anything like that here. Hay bales are supposed to be excellant insulation.

Thermal insulation, yes. Fire insulation, no.

The aesthetic seems a bit too whimsical for my tastes, but the premise behind the design is interesting.

You could move to New Zealand and inhabit one of the hutches in the Shire there....
