Kickerville Rd parking?
Does anyone know if it's OK to spot a car along Kickerville Rd, near where Big Brook passes under?
Kickerville is the road leading to Cedarlands... Don't want to p!ss off the private landowners there.

Maybe I should have asked if anyone has paddled Big Brook?
Looks like a minimum of 4 beaver dams and an unknown number of rapids. Will it be a fun ride or a bump and grind?

Aren't there access issues with Big Brook? Maybe I'm thinking of Slim Pond further west...

Mike, have you paddled the water at the scout camp (McCrorie Lake)? There is a parking area a little way up the road from the bridge. I can't recall how far, maybe about a quarter mile.
Not sure about "legal" access but there is room to pull down to the water right next to the bridge, on the downstream side. It can seen it on google earth. I'd be careful using it after a rain as it looked pretty steep. There is also a lean to on the upstream side but not sure if it is private or public. |

Thanks, guys.
D, Yeah, you're thinking about Slim Pond...that's been on my wish list for 30 years, but it is strictly off limits. madmike, I still don't know what you're mad about. We will likely be there the 1st week of May. adkh20, Thanks for the link, I forgot about that. bluequill, Yes, I've done McCrorie and Mud, and I saw that dirt launch next to the bridge. I'm not so sure about spotting a car there. Worst case, we could just leave the car(s) at the designated parking area.

There space for parking on the far side of the bridge, but I don't know what the rules are about using it. You could ask DEC if it's covered in the Cedarlands easement. The public parking lot is a half-mile beyond the bridge. I once canoed Big Brook from NY 30 to Long Lake in mid-October. There were lots of boulders and shallow rapids and one fairly big drop (for me). No rapids for the last mile or so. Nice views in the marsh near the mouth.
