Our wedding will be in Keene Valley in August and we thought we'd serve some sort of regional cocktail at the reception. Just from Googling around, I couldn't find much in the way of a particularly Adirondacky cocktail -- though there were a few references to a Prohibition-era drink called an Orange Blosson (gin and orange juice), an Adirondack margarita made with apple juice, and a "Canoe Cocktail" served at the Whiteface Lodge, made with champagne, Lillet white wine and Grand Marnier.
If anybody has any other ideas, please post. Thanks, Will |

I second Rik's suggestion... or the litter-bugs beer of choice - Bud Light. It never fails - empties left behind at car camping spots is almost always Bud farking Light. Now that I mentioned it you'll start to notice... funny how that works. It's like owning a new car - you suddenly see that make/model everywhere!

My favorite summertime drink (matter of fact I have one beside me right now) is Peach Fresca and vodka. My own concoction, I call it a "Peachy Keene".

According to Adirondack Life magazine this is this the drink you are looking for.
Sip an Adirondack cocktail while watching the sunset from an Adirondack chair. Recipe for an Adirondack, from A. S. Crockett's 1935 The Old Waldorf-Astoria Bar Book: 2 oz. gin 2 oz. orange juice Pour the gin into an old-fashioned glass filled with ice. Top with orange juice. We used to drink tea sweetened with Tang on our camping trips.
Then we moved on to Tang and vodka--preferably with icy cold water from a pure ADK source! A couple of years ago we ended up in an upscale bar in Philadelphia. On their drink menu was the "Buzz Aldrin" -- Tang, vodka, and triple sec. They stole my idea! Pat T |
