Question Anyone Ice Clmbing Yet?

Looking at the photo of that brook on the way up Puffer Mtn, it looks like ice climbing season is at the door.
Anyone sink their axes into the frosty stuff yet?

No climbing in yet but if the weather stays as cold as it has been, even some of the Catskill Ice will be in. I'm planning on at least checking out the ice on the 16th of Dec. Before global warming had really set in I could bet on climbing by then at the latest.

Global Warming Sucks!

I'm still hoping for one more chilly day down at the Gunks myself, but I'm ready to poke the axes in somewhere, and if it stays this cold the ice will be in enough at least to top-rope thin stuff.

I'm going to give the Black Chasm a shot next weekend. I know we are in for a bit of a warm up, but the Chasm is quite shaded and up in elevation so hopefully it will not be too sublimated to climb.

Climbed at the NFOP on Friday, things were falling down though. Left the truck and the temps were 50*.

Where is Black Chasm and where are the pictures of Puffer Mtn that was mentioned?

Thanks

Black Chasm probably should not have been mentioned on this site because it is not in the ADKs. My Bad.
