  • Lows upper dam/floating bog conditions

I plan to go into Lows Lake later this week and I would like any current info on the construction at the upper dam and the floating bog just upstream. Is the water level around the bog low? I'm hauling a wall tent/stove etc and just trying to figure if it will be an added portage or float-able.
    Thank You

Still lots of work going on at the upper dam a couple of weeks ago - they are scheduled to be done by November. I did not paddle above the dam but water level looked normal.

likewise, was there about four weeks ago. At the dam we had to walk to the other side of the water to put in but nothing too crazy to deal with. As for the bogs we had to wade through both areas in order to pass through -could not do it without getting out of the boat.

I camped on Low's Lake for four days last week. There was a crew working on the Upper Dam with cement trucks and a crane. We portaged through the work site without difficulty - the trail is marked of with snow fencing for part of the way.

There was plenty of water in the river. There was a ~ten foot long 'carry' to get around one end of the floating bog island. A heavily loaded canoe might need to be waded through a bit more of the shallows as you pass the floating island. - K
