That seems like the perfect light set up for strapping to your pack, or extended carry. I know Tika makes a fine shooting piece. What do you feed it?

I've got a whole stack of repeaters in the closet. All I hunt with now is my .50 flintlock.

Normally I take the Rem 700 in 308.

I also have my grandfathers 742 that has never gave me a bit of trouble but others in camp feel the same as many of you. I will say it dose give trouble trying to clean it after a hunt in the rain. I hate taking that thing down.

An old .300 Savage semi-automatic. Not sure of the particulars at this moment but it's an oldie. My Grandpa, my Dad, and I have dropped many-a-deer in their tracks using this beauty. Deadly accurate!

A freind of mine in Kentucky shot a nice buck using a round ball with a percussion model like yours. The deer was shot on a sharp quartering angle.
That round ball went through about 80% of the deer before exiting. I was impressed!

Thoses winchesters are some tough bullets! I handload myself and usually pack them with Barnes X.

With all the new magnums coming out most people don't realized a 308 will do the job on most anything in this country.

If ya get a chance, drag that critter out and gives some details I'll bet its a classic. That 300 is just a little lighter that a 308 and should do just about anything the 308 can.
