Deep Lake
Anyone ever hiked into Deep Lake from the Moose River Plains Rd.? Are the roads open yet in Moose River Plains. Is the trail to Deep Lake in decent shape to bring in a canoe on wheels? Any place to pitch a tent in there?

I've been there several times. The trail is in ok shape, not great- somewhat overgrown in spots, but better than the trail to Wolf Lake (which is just about non-existent at this point). I would say that it's definitely not the most conducive trail to trying to bring a canoe on wheels in on, though.
There is a campsite where the trail reaches the lake, but it's not designated and is too close to the water to be legal. No other obvious campsites around- the shore of the lake is pretty swampy. Last edited by DSettahr; 05-04-2012 at 07:18 AM.. |

Thanks, It gives me an idea about what I am up against. The idea of spending a night in a place called Deep Lake, surrounded by mountains appeals to me. How many places like that are left.? If it gets too difficult, I will bail out at Falls pond and just hike in to Deep Lake without my canoe to check it out.
