![]() Hello,
I was thinking of visiting Pine Orchard this winter. I'm definitely not fit enough to snowshoe all the way from PHR and back. So, I was wondering about the Dorr Rd access. Is that road plowed? I drive a Honda Fit, so it can't go thru deep snow. Thanks in advance for your help. Kathy |

Yes, the road should be plowed. There's a residence at the end near where you park. You cross a bit of private land but it's all marked, just stay on the path.

I dunno? Last time I was up that way, two winters ago, the plow stopped right after the last permanent residence or about a mile shy of the PO parking area.
You might want to give the Wells Highway Dept. a quick call to check on the status. Although, I suspect they might be a little busy today... ![]()

Both times I've been there have been in the winter, and both times it was plowed. I'm not sure if the town plows it, or if the guy who has a place at the end of the road does. He has some heavy equipment in his yard that looks like it could do the job.

And the answer is....yes it is plowed all the way to Flaters. It was well plowed and sanded up until the last mile. But the last mile doesn't look like it was done by the professional county road crew. I wasn't sure if I could even make it with my little Honda. But I took a chance and I did make it. Unfortunately, while the road had been plowed somewhat, the parking area wasn't plowed at all and I got stuck. No matter, I was prepared. I had a shovel and cleared a spot to park in a few minutes. It was a good warm up for the trip. Once I returned, I had no trouble getting back out. All part of the adventure. Trip report soon....
