And it's the right decision. Over here in Vermont I've given up fishing the White and Connecticut rivers, two former favorites, due to Didymo. If you haven't seen a big bloom of the stuff I can tell you it aint pretty - there was a section of the Connecticut about half a mile long this summer that looked like it was completely covered with used toilet paper. No idea what the fish think of it but I wasn't going in. And it was we fishermen who almost certainly inflicted this.

Here's hoping modern technology delivers us something that grips like felt and doesn't transmit nasty stuff like Didymo.
