  • Adirondack Gems

Do you know of an Adirondack Gem (a location with aesthetic value that is not visited often) where you have to hike a unmaintained trail, or bushwhack?

A overlook, waterfall, cave, pond, etc.

For example, here in Long Lake, we have Owls Head Pond. You get get to it by 1.) Climbing the Owls head firetower trail and bushwacking down the mtn to the pond (before you reach the summit) ; or 2.) by paddling south on Long Lake and west up the Owl' head outlet, parking your water craft at the waterfalls and bushwhacking the two miles in. Owls head pond is a great little remote fishing and camping spot. In the spring or fall you an almost guarantee your daily limit of native brook trout. If you visit the north shore line you will find two 1970's aluminum canoes which you can use to fish.

Where is your little gem? Please do tell <smile>
