Closed Highways and poor trail conditions

DEC was reporting for last weekend, 11/1, poor trail conditions.

And news sites are reporting several highway closings, restrictions.

I guess the region got hit hard by the 10/31 Halloween storm. I'd welcome any reports from folks up that a way...

Roads are open, power came back on Sunday. So in town, things are pretty normal. Some damage in the valleys; community based clean ups going on.

I think there is a lot of new blowdown. I would plan extra time for any hikes, and carry work gloves and a hand saw to help with the small stuff.

I read that the Opalescent bridge on the way to Allen is gone.

I just got an email from the ranger in charge of the section of NPT I adopted asking for us to email him with locations and pics of trail damage. Please don't take this as a solicitation for that info, and I won't provide his contact info. But the general DEC narrative seems to be that one should expect significant impact to trail sections from the rain and wind, that there is restoration work that will need to be done. It's somewhat unlikely that I'll be able to get out there, but there may be motivation inherent in this to try.

This other thread is already discussing this, apologies for the duplication:
