Day trip in the Saranac Lake/Lake Placid?

My father and I are looking for a day trip in the Saranac Lake/Lake Placid Area. He's coming from Plattsburgh and I'm coming from Moira.

Preferably a slow moving river we could do in 5 hours, more or less. Little or no portaging involved.

I've done the Osgood River from both directions. Something similar to that would be great.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

A couple of ideas that seem to meet your criteria:

Chubb River upstream from Lake Placid
Saranac River from Saranac Lake to Bloomingdale

Lots of other ideas here:
